Webinar: Exploring Challenges and Benefits of Metagenomics

Metagenomics and metatranscriptomics have revolutionized our understanding of microbial communities, allowing us to study them without the need to culture individual organisms. In this webinar we will focus on the fundamentals of metagenomics and metatranscriptomics and cover critical considerations for project planning, including sample collection, DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing technologies, and an overview of analysis techniques. We will discuss key applications, such as studying human gut microbiota, environmental biodiversity, and disease diagnostics.

This webinar aims at early career researchers, clinicians, bioinformaticians and everyone working on or interested in metagenomics.

The webinar will be held by Dr. rer. nat Oleksandra Karpiuk from the NGS Competence Center Tübingen (NCCT) at the University Clinic Tübingen.

The event is in English and will be held on 16th May 2024, 14:00 CEST (available afterwards on demand). Attendance is free, but we ask for registration.
